Submission guidelines

The Journal News welcomes *local readers' submissions of "Community View" columns.
These colums are opinion pieces of up to 750 words dealing with a timely, and preferably local, issue of public interest. They should be well-composed essays on points of view that merit more detailed discussion than is available in briefer letters to the editor.
You must include your name, address and daytime telephone number to permit verification. Be sure to let us know if you have particular experience, training or expertise that is relevant to the subject matter of your essay.
Submissions selected for publication may be edited for length, accuracy and clarity. Columns may be published or distributed in print, electronic or other forms.
*We are primarily interested in submissions from people who live or work in the coverage area of the print editions of The Journal News: Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties in New York.
