Empire Zone Tax Breaks
The New York state Department of Economic Development has released records detailing Empire Zone tax breaks granted to businesses. The release, ordered by the state Supreme Court, came after a newspaper sued for access to the information, which had been denied for years. This year, an estimated $558 million in tax breaks will go to 9,667 businesses in the program meant to encourage job growth, according to the state. more »
